Bloodspell – Epic Machinima

Posted by Peter Rasmussen on October 25, 2007

Bloodspel

I just watched Bloodspell. What an epic! I really liked the humour undercutting the drama. It was always unexpected and never overdone. Great sound track. I really enjoyed the use of modern music and dialogue in the period setting. Wonderful performances. The genuine characters are so much fun and really drew me in. The camera coverage was spectacular.

The premium adventure game web site Just Adventure has posted a review of the stolen Life DVD by Ray Ivey. He talks about the potential development of machinima and about the performances from Claudia Black and Chris Jones.

“The voice acting is simply superb.”
“The script is funny and smart, and manages to take a couple of very surprising, yet believable, twists.”

Machinima for Dummies Out Now

Posted by Peter Rasmussen on September 6, 2007

Anyway – my and Johnnie Ingram’s book, “Machinima for Dummies”, is out
now and available from Amazon.com. It’s a pretty complete guide to
filmmaking using computer games and other real-time 3D engines: we cover
filmmaking theory, storytelling, editing, distribution, publicity, 3D
modeling, compositing, choosing a game engine for your story, and more.

We also have detailed chapters on filmmaking using World of Warcraft,
The Sims 2, Medieval Total War 2, and Moviestorm – as well as a free
copy of Moviestorm that you can use straight away, on the cover.

Enough blurb! If you’re interested in letting people know about
Machinima for Dummies via blogs, articles, sites, whatever, that would
be great! If you’re just interested, that’s cool too.

You can learn more about the book and buy it, if you’re so inclined,
from www.machinimafordummies.com

Cheers,

YouTube with revenue

Posted by Peter Rasmussen on August 16, 2007

simi

A new way of distributing movies
Perfect for machinima.

As well as being available on DVD, Stolen Life is now available streamed and via direct download.

This system is perfect for all kinds of machinima. At the moment the Si-Mi web site has many short clips available for a few cents. There is at least one other feature film I know of on this site. It’s like YouTube with revenue.

This new system allows us to offer Stolen Life for much less than the DVD.

Follow the links from the Stolen Life web site to check out this new service.
